About
I have consistently explored the theme of the inner strength of human beings through my work.
To express the depth and fluidity of the inner world — and the different expressions that emerge depending on the moment of encounter or the viewer’s perspective — I create dimensional calligraphic works using a unique technique developed through extensive experimentation.
In the TOU (問) Series, I write characters upon a black background intended to evoke the world that unfolds when one closes one’s eyes and turns inward.
Each work begins with a single character.
A single character holds an entire landscape of meaning, memory, and experience.
By continuing to question that character and engage with it deeply, the process itself gradually takes form as the artwork.
The creation begins with a single brushstroke in the present moment.
Upon that initial trace, layers of material are built up one after another.
Through repeated processes — sometimes over the course of several months — the work slowly develops.
During this time, I quietly confront my own inner landscape, the chosen character, and the work itself.
In this process, both the artist and the artwork gradually transform.
To question, to notice, to experience, and to change.
Through this process, people come to remember their own truth and inner strength.
My works are not answers.
They are intended to be a moment — a catalyst — through which a question may arise within the viewer.
